VILLAGE HALL BUSINESS
- Correspondence Sent
Mr Lefty, Arctic Glass, re: problems with doors and guttering. No reply as yet. The contractor they said to contact would have charged £120 plus materials not necessary as problems occurred well within the initial 12 month period.
- Correspondence Received
Clerk to the parish council, re: Quotes for drainage ditches and flooring to toilets agreed by finance committee. Quotes for roof to be discussed at next Parish Finance meeting to be held on 4th December 2002.
- Flooring and Drainage
Quote from F.J. Milligan for the drains and R.W. Carrick for the flooring, approved.
- Doors
Wait and see if there is any response to our letter of 20 November 2002. If not consider approaching Mr Poulton to write a legal letter on our behalf.
- Roof
Await Parish Councils decision.
- Any Other Business
Furniture inventory to be carried out before next meeting.
Insurance to look at with a view to increasing cover.
RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION BUSINESS

Letter from Howard Flight MP, thanks for letter about the A24 junction. Keep him informed if we do not receive a satisfactory reply, he will take up the matter on our behalf.

In Process: reply to Mr Flight, re A24.

Nothing new to report with regards to junction.
Discussion took place about the new speed restrictions, and when the cameras would be put in place.
- Play Area
Darren collected 100 trees today everything now present and ready to plant. Also have received bulbs from Parish Council to plant on the Green.
Darren will possibly plant trees this coming Saturday morning.
- Crime In The Ward
Since last meeting people have reported to Darren that they have found a syringe in the bus shelter, in the gutter down Bentons Lane, and one person reported people with drugs around the village hall.
This is the time of the year when crime increases in the village, and need to be vigilant.
Darren and Jeans neighbour had the side window and windscreen of their car smashed by a stone. ? malicious? or from a passing lorry.
- Any Other Business
a) Discussion took place between Simon and Brenda re, having to prove ownership of the village hall to receive a government grant.
b) Vicky to check if subscription for Sussex Rural Community Council has been paid.
c) Simon, re, crime in the ward. Meeting attended by Wardens from Ashington, and possibility of scheme in our ward problem of cost. A questionnaire is to go out in the spring.
d) Neighbourhood Watch was discussed. Sharon is to contact Partridge Green neighbourhood watch and the Crime Prevention Officer for Sussex police.
e) 30-mile an hour speed limit sign to be moved to end of where houses are. To move to a non-street-lit area requires a traffic regulation order. Currently 115 on list and only 17 a year are completed.
Thanks were given to the Bowls Club for putting up the Christmas decorations.
Thank you to Pauline for once again doing a wonderful job and providing the food.
Darren thanked everyone who turns up on a regular basis.
Darren asked Simon to convey are thanks to Parish for their help and support over the past year.
The committee thanked Darren for all his hard work throughout the year.
Darren officially closed the meeting and everyone enjoyed the raffle tombola, followed by food and wine.
